Mindfulness of Nature

The Gardener

Dear friends,

Happy Friday! Have we done enough this week? And how much does that really matter?

I heard this poem for the first time yesterday, and wanted to share it.

A beautiful inspiration for your week-end ahead perhaps?

The Gardener

Have I lived enough?
Have I loved enough?
Have I considered Right Action enough, have I come to any conclusion?
Have I experienced happiness with sufficient gratitude?
Have I endured loneliness with grace?

I say this, or perhaps I’m just thinking it.
Actually I probably think too much.

Then I step out into the garden,
where the gardener, who is said to be a simple man,
is tending his children, the roses.

Mary Oliver

Take care and have a great weekend!

Thank you Suzie, it’s always good to hear when things resonate with others.
At times I wonder whether such messages are too bold for our world! But, perhaps that is why they are needed more than ever?

Wow! Was reading a beautiful picture book, The Little Gardener, with my stepdaughter at lunchtime. Worth a look!

So beautiful, thank you Claire. “Actually, I probably think too much”… that’s me, definitely, most of the time! – until I remember to pause, breathe and come back to myself in the present – back to my true nature.
Please don’t ever stop reminding us of what is meaningful and important – your messages are not too bold; they are essential. C x

Thank you for your supportive words.
And yes, I think “I probably think too much” is us… all of us!
Thanks Cath and hope to see you soon,

The perfect poem for my weekend, having spent two days in the garden. I wasn’t sure how supportive my garden was for wildlife, but I found a robin’s nest as well as tadpoles, frogs and various other pond-dwellers. What’s more I felt closer to my dad as we worked away, finding a sense of unexplainable contentment in simply being in touch with fresh air, earth, water, and wood. I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend too Claire.
