Benefits of nature

We all come from nature and are an integral part of the natural world. Our bodies are made of the same elements as the rest of nature. Our skin, our nails, our hair, our brains and our bones are all made of the same substances as those found in trees, meadows, animals, flowers, rocks and soil. We also have our deepest origins in a natural world.  Our bodies, our senses and our minds evolved in nature, when our ancestors were roaming the African Savannahs.

Consequently, it is not surprising that the natural world is intrinsically good for us – we need nature! Not only do our everyday lives (air, food, resources, clothes etc) directly depend on it but there is now much scientific evidence that spending time enjoying and experiencing nature is essential for our health and well-being.  Spending time in the natural world results in:

  • Enhanced well-being
  • Increased vitality
  • Increased creativity
  • Increased concentration
  • Better physical health
  • Better mental health
  • Reduce stress and anxiety
  • Better moods
  • Increased self-esteem

So get outside and discover your favourite ways to explore nature! But above all, have fun and enjoy it!
